Todays lesson:
We were introduced to Keith Negus who is the author of pop and popular music theory, which is were we learnt new terminology this being organic ideology and synthetic ideology. This is what Keith referred to as the two distinct groups of upcoming potential artists from within the music industry. He states that artists either fall into organic or synthetic ideology.
Organic ideology:
This is purely centred around the voice and music the artist creates. The artist will then show growth but keep the same down to earth natural feeling, these artists are often sold as authentic and a real person which fans can relate to in ways. Examples of artists which are organic and became famous through their music is Ed Sheehan, Taylor swift.
Synthetic ideology:
This is the opposite to organic in that it bases it off the look of the artist instead of their talent, these artists are often aimed at younger audiences. They are meant to be idealistic and what younger girls and boys want to be like, a role model in a sense. Some examples of these kind of artists are spice girls as they were formed on what they look like, as the manager had a clear idea of what each girl should look like and represent then found them on that.
Conclusion:
In knowing this helps us decide what we want to do with our artists wether we want to focus on the music or the looks. This will then go on to represent how we want our artist to be seen as and what kind of audience they will have.

Lily this is a great first post and you've included a clear description of Negus' ideas and then linked this to the decisions that you will need to make in your own production. The photos of the artist and band that you have included do clearly say to me, yes we could find someone like that at school! A final sentence summing up the outcome of the task (pretty much what I said in the last sentence here) would help, to conclude and to lead on to what you will do next. A couple of photos of some of the examples of organic and synthetic artists would help too. Good job
